Asset Benchmarking Project
Strengthening NSW Roads and Bridges Through Collaboration and Data
Background
Since 2006, the Roads and Transport Directorate (RTD) has collected and analysed data on asset management practices, road network performance, and financial planning for regional and local roads in NSW. The reports provide insights into road and bridge asset values, performance trends, required funding to maintain service levels, and the practices supporting infrastructure that underpins the NSW economy.
The findings highlight the importance of collaboration between all levels of government to deliver sustainable transport infrastructure at an affordable cost. By comparing data across IPWEA NSW regional groups, councils can identify improvements, support reform initiatives, and enhance the quality of life for their communities.
